lyrics

A traveler rose, the sun lay asleep
As the day wasn't yet alive
She ran upon the cobblestone
To the dock where the boat was tied
And bade farewell with a hand on her heart
But before her prayer was done
Her eyes they were as glittery gold
As the sea in the morning sun

Upon the shore the waves sang a song
Of the wind from across the sea
Of creatures small and mountains grand
And the beauty they long to be
Toward the isle her gaze then set
Her feet began to run
Her eyes they were as constant and blue
As the hills in the midday sun

The weary traveler rested awhile
On a stone by the seaside way
To watch the sheep who toddled along
And the children all out to play
A peaceful cloud rolled perilously near
As she hummed a lingering tune
Her eyes they were as salty and pale
As the sun in the afternoon

Her footsteps traced the whole of the isle
And the strangers they knew her well
But thought of home and love therein
The sea could no more dispel
A lonesome passage the way she had come
A voyage oft been done
Her eyes they were as purple and wet
As the clouds in the evening sun

Atop the stair, secluded and cold
Was the bed where the traveler lay
She said a prayer for the rain in the hills
And the stars in the midnight sky
For memories old and mysteries new
For battles lost and won
She closed her eyes and all that was there
Was the sea in the morning sun
